32 panels and 20kWh of storage for an EV-driving family home

A numbers-driven homeowner with an electric car wanted a system big enough for today and ready for a heat pump tomorrow. We refined his design, installed it, and the system is now exporting to the grid.

The challenge

The homeowner first came to us for a few panels to power his garden room. He'd bought an EV the year before and had spent twelve months studying his energy use and collecting quotes. He wanted a system that would cover a home running an electric car, with an air source heat pump planned for the future.

Where they started

A four-bed detached home with an EV, using between roughly 500 and 700kWh a month across the year, and a clear idea of what he thought he needed.

What we did

We surveyed the property and put forward a proposal based on his own design, adjusted using our installation experience. He chose our proposal over the other quotes he'd received.

How we run projects like this

  • A free survey of the roof, the fuse board and where the battery and inverter will go.
  • A design based on your real usage, with a fixed price before any work starts.
  • Installation by our own team, usually in one to two days, with the DNO notified for you.
  • A full handover: how the system works, the app, and all your guarantee paperwork.
